The GHS (Globally Harmonised System) is the new standard for the classification and labelling of chemicals, which came into effect in January 2009. It is set to replace the existing CHIP regulation by June 2015, gradually phasing out the traditional orange and black CHIP labels. The primary objective of the GHS regulation is to establish a universally recognisable system for chemical classification and labelling.
